Abstract
A new method for the quantitative measurement of phagocytosus by neutrophils, providing reproducibility within 3%, is described. The phagocytizable material consists of radiolabeled immune complexes. Cell uptake is a function of the cell concentration, the amount of immune complexes, the duration of incubation, and the amount of antigen in excess of the point of equivalence. The presence of serum does not enhance phagocytosis.
