Summary
Methods are presented for the production of antibodies to partially purified bovine thyroid stimulating hormone (BTSH) and human thyroid stimulating hormone (HTSH) in rabbits.
Hemagglutination methods for the estimation of antibodies using human O-negative erythrocytes coated with TSH are presented.
Hemagglutination inhibition methods were used to detect contaminants in and possible cross reaction between the BTSH and HTSH used as the antigens.
With the use of these methods no measurable immunologic similarity between bovine and human thyroid stimulating hormones was noted.
The possible cross-reaction between various antierior pituitary hormones and homologous antiserum is discussed.
