Further evidence concerning the distinctiveness of a nonhemagglutinating cytoagglutinin and the erythrocyte agglutinin found in kidney bean extracts has been obtained by the inhibition with EDTA of only the erythrocyte agglutinin. Several other chelating agents did not cause inhibition of agglutination. Agglutination of cells did not occur in the presence of EDTA primarily due to the prevention of binding of the agglutinin molecule to the erythrocyte. A summary of the properties and behavior of the agglutinins of the kidney bean is given.
