Summary
A fluorometric method has been adapted to measure the relative concentrations of Groups A and A-variant antibodies in streptococcal Group A rabbit antisera. In this method FITC-labeled antibodies are adsorbed onto streptococcal cell walls and, after subsequent elution, measured in a fluorometer.
Inhibition of the reactions between Group A conjugate and homologous cell walls by Group A carbohydrate, and between Group A-variant conjugate and homologous cell walls by Group A-variant carbohydrate, confirmed the immunologic specificity of the two antibodies.
