Abstract
The quantitative passive hemagglutination migration technique has been adapted for the measurement of antibodies to a protein. Egg albumin was coupled to sheep and goat red blood cells by the water-soluble carbodiimide, 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride. The procedure is as sensitive as the tube hemagglutination test, but is considerably more quantitative with coefficient of variations less than 10%. The empirical mathematical model that best expressed the system was different from that found to be most appropriate for expression of hemagglutination migrations with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide.
