Kamen, L. A., J. Schlessinger, and C. A. Lowell. 2011. Pyk2 is required for neutrophil degranulation and host defense responses to bacterial infection. J. Immunol. 186: 1656–1665.
The American Association of Immunologists, publisher of The Journal of Immunology, is issuing an Expression of Concern for the article referenced above. The Expression of Concern is intended to inform readers that questions have been raised regarding figures in this manuscript.
The following issue has been raised regarding this publication:
The α p Pyk2 blot of Fig. 7B contains anomalies that do not appear to be part of the original blot.
Our policy requires authors to retain the original, raw data presented in published articles for the length of time required by the authors’ funding source or institution; if the institution or funding source does not have a data retention policy, then data should be kept for at least six years after publication (as per HHS guidelines).
The corresponding author has supplied the original data for the blot (Fig 1). Although the Pyk2 bands are unaffected, there appear to be some artifactual bands on the original image, the origin of which is unclear. Therefore, the article is now published with an Expression of Concern.
