Summary
Intrabronchial inoculation of rats with heavy suspensions of pulmonary tissues of mice infected with influenza virus produced macroscopic lesions localized to the site of inoculation. When the suspensions were mixed with antiviral serum, the lesion was specifically inhibited. Multiplication of virus in the lungs of rats was indicated by the survival of influenza virus through eleven serial passages The microscopic lesions were noteworthy for the absence of significant changes in the bronchiolar epithelium.
