Summary
From these studies of vaccinial systems a short quantitative method of titrating the complement-fixing capacity of vaccinial sera and antigens has been derived. The method is based on that developed in this laboratory (5) for the routine complement-fixation test for syphilis, and involves the use of tables of conversion factors for the determination of the amount of complement needed for 50-per-cent hemolysis under various conditions. The test has been useful in differentiating reactions of sera with several different antigens and of antigens with different sera.
