1. We succeeded in performing complement-fixation tests, using sterile filtrate of H. pertussis culture as the antigen.

  2. We demonstrated that mild peptic digestion easily destroyed the complement-fixing antibodies in immune rabbit and horse sera without impairing the titer of the antitoxic antibodies.

  3. The antigen present in filtrates of H. pertussis culture and responsible for the complement-fixation test was highly resistant to digestion with pepsin in acid medium.
