A highly allergenic protein-carbohydrate preparation has been isolated from a low ragweed pollen extract (Ambrosia elatoir) by precipitation with ammonium sulfate followed by chromatography on DEAE-cellulose, gel-filtration on Sephadex G-75, chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex and gel-filtration on Sephadex G-200. The preparation is skin reactive at 10-9 to 10-10 µg, on intradermal injection, in the treated rag-weed-sensitive patient. Immunoelectrophoretic and gel-diffusion methods show multiple antigens.
