FAQs: Reduced Author Fees Starting October 1, 2024

 

1. What are the new author fees for The Journal of Immunology?

  • For AAI Members, the fee will be a flat $1,500 for standard license submissions.  (All fees are included in the flat fee—including color and page charges.)
  • For Nonmembers, the fee will be a flat $1,875. (All fees are included in the flat fee—including color and page charges.)
  • If you wish to publish Open Access, the fee for AAI Members is $2,800, and for Nonmembers is $3,000. This fee is not in addition to the standard license fee.  (All fees are included in the flat fee—including color and page charges.)

2. What are the new fees for ImmunoHorizons?

  • For AAI Members, the flat fee for Open Access submissions will be $1,360.
  • For Nonmembers, the flat fee will be $1,700.
  • Authors from eligible countries may qualify for a full waiver for submissions to ImmunoHorizons. More information can be found in the APC Waiver Policy.

 

3. Are the new fees for Open Access in addition to the standard license fee? No, the Open Access fee replaces the standard license fee. You will not be charged twice if you choose the Open Access option.

 

4. When will these new fees take effect? The new fees will apply to all manuscripts submitted on or after October 1, 2024.

 

5. Will authors who submitted their manuscripts before October 1, 2024, receive a refund under the new fee structure? Unfortunately, no. We are unable to provide refunds to authors who submitted manuscripts under the previous fee structure.

 

6. Why are the fees being reduced? We are reducing fees to make our journals more accessible to a broader range of authors and to encourage more submissions. This is part of our ongoing efforts to support the scientific community through our publishing partnership with Oxford University Press.

 

7. How do I know if I’m eligible for a waiver in ImmunoHorizons? Authors from certain eligible countries may qualify for a full waiver. Please contact the editorial office or see the APC Waiver Policy for more information .
