a

Inflammation and hyperplasia of cecum and colon were evaluated histologically and scored 0–4 as described in the text. Data were subjected to the Mann-Whitney U test by comparison of each NF-κB mutant and WT or p50−/−. Data are presented as median score and range. Typhlitis (p50−/− and p50−/−p65+/−) and colitis (p50−/− and p50−/−p65+/−) were significantly elevated compared to infected WT mice, and typhlitis (p50−/−p65+/−) and colitis (p50−/−p65+/−) were significantly elevated compared to infected p50−/− mice.

b

Median score (range).

c

Mann-Whitney U test, comparison to H. hepaticus-infected WT value.

d

Mann-Whitney U test, comparison to H. hepaticus-infected p50−/− value.
