NK cells were purified and stimulated with poly(I:C) (10 μg/ml) or R848 (either 3 or 10 μg/ml) for 18 h at 37°C. Cells were stained for cell surface expression of NCRs and analyzed by flow cytometry. Results are expressed as the percentage of CD56+ cells that coexpress the indicated activatory receptor. A minimum of three donors were used (NKG2D experiment) and ranged from five to seven donors for the other activation antigens.
